Goodbody veteran Martin Tormey appointed as CEO

Goodbody insider Martin Tormey has been appointed as the stockbroker’s chief executive at the same time as AIB completes its acquistion of the firm. Mr Tormey, a 25 year veteran of Goodbody, was the firm’s director of strategic business development and succeeds Roy Barrett, who announced in March that he was stepping down. The new CEO comes from the capital markets side of the firm where he was a leading trader and eventually head of institutional equities trading and will report into Cathy Bryce, managing director of capital markets at AIB. The bank agreed in March to buy Goodbody after Bank of China pulled out of a proposed acquisition. An acquisition spree by AIB and Bank of Ireland as Ulster Bank and KBC close here has boosted the two giants of Irish banking.
