We have a problem with structural sexism in the American workplace. And in each sexual harassment incident in the workplace, it comes down to one dynamic: power. In the case of Google’s investigation (and dare I say the majority of sexual harassment cases), the power balance swings heavily to men. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission estimates that between 25 to 85 percent of women are subject to sexual harassment at work. If burden of proof and the possibility of retaliation aren’t enough, there’s the lack of legal protections in favor of victims of sexual harassment.
