And while skepticism in these situations is usually the order of the day, Google hit all the right points here. While there are many extant questions, the vision that the company put forth today represents a major, real threat to video game consoles as we have known them since the NES. It's unclear how the economics are going to work, access is a problem, and it does still need to work. But the thing is, streaming doesn't even need to be perfect to fundamentally change the current conception of video game consoles. We've always known that streaming had the potential to completely upend the video game industry sooner or later.
