Much like their spiritual forebears Basement Jaxx, Gorgon City have achieved broad success because they were drawn to the more accessible end of house music as a departure point and were simply too good at “pop” for the pop world not to take notice rather than coming at pop from the other way around. All such intellectual considerations tend to evaporate when the sexy, sexy beats kick in, anyway. And if they don’t, well, it’s your loss. Gorgon City has been sitting on a follow-up to its 2014 full-length debut, Sirens, entitled Kingdom — this one reputedly a double album — for some time now. This aging raver is very interested to hear it.
