Joseph OlaoluwaThe National President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents, Tony Nwabunike, has asked the National Assembly to check the actions of international shipping firms which slammed huge surcharges on imported cargoes. In an interview with our correspondent, Nwabunike said that international shipping firms did not have the interest of the nation at heart. He said, “Most of them charge above the world standard and African standard of what shipping companies are charging. Nigerian cannot continue to be paying these excessive charges.”He tasked the Nigerian Shippers Council to provide guidelines to the international shipping firms. He added, “Shipping companies are to be under the supervision of the Nigerian Shipper’s Council.”The ANLCA boss said all the excessive charges importers were paying affect the final consumer.
