SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 5, 2023 (BSS) - The Government Primary School TeacherWelfare Trust Bill, 2023 passed in Parliament today aiming at bearing theexpense of education of minor child of teacher if they die during service. Primary and Mass Education State Minister M Zakir Hossain moved the bill inthe House and it was passed by voice votes with Deputy Speaker Shamsul HuqTuku in the chair. As per the bill, if a teacher dies during service, the expense of educationof his or her minor child will be given till they become adult. The teachers have to deposit a certain amount to the trust fund and it willbe determined by the rules. Praising the government initiative in developing primary education,opposition lawmaker Barrister Shamim Haider Patwary, MP, said "the studentdrop out in primary level has drastically reduced as now the student dropdeclined to 14percent from the earlier level of 45 percent in 2009."
