The government has announced the disbursement of Ksh778 million to a bid to cushion 133,000 households in eight counties grappling with the worsening drought situation. WaJir County will also receive the February 2026 payment cycle, as it has been described as the most affected. Turkana County received the largest allocation of Ksh215.1 million for 39,842 households, followed by Mandera County with Ksh179.3 million for 22,145 households. Marsabit received Ksh110.1 million for 20,390 households, while Wajir got Ksh103.5 million to support 19,171 households. Garissa was allocated Ksh49.8 million for 9,232 households, Isiolo Ksh36.7 million for 6,796 households, Samburu Ksh44.2 million for 8,184 households, and Tana River Ksh39.6 million for 7,341 households.
