The government has started disbursing Tk57.25 crore in incentives to 1 million farmers to promote the production of Aush across the country. A total of a million farmers will get seeds and fertilizers under the program, said a handout of the Agriculture Ministry. A farmer will get 5kg of seeds, 10kg of DAP and 10 kg of MoP fertilizers for cultivating Aush on one bigha of land, it said. The incentives are being provided from the agriculture rehabilitation support sector under the regular budget of the Agriculture Ministry. The government has a policy to promote Aush cultivation, including Aush paddy, seeing it incurs lower production costs and is less vulnerable to natural calamities.
