Private jet owners had to apply for a flight plan with DGCA which generated a so-called YA number before flying abroad. The flight plan, however, will still need to be cleared by the air traffic control under the Airports Authority of India (AAI). DGCA will also issue an authorisation, which will be valid for five years for private aircraft operators for carrying out overseas flights, the statement added. “Doing away with YA number will ensure that Indian operators can fly overseas without delay and will help maintain the essence of business aviation,” he added.
