SUBANG (April 2): The Ministry of Human Resources is reviewing a proposal to introduce a maternity leave assistance allowance through the Social Security Organisation (Socso). Its minister, Datuk Seri R Ramanan, said the proposed allowance, to be implemented under Socso’s insurance system, is expected to benefit more than 100,000 mothers nationwide. The programme, attended by about 500 participants, serves as a platform to strengthen cooperation between the government, employers and workers. Meanwhile, in a statement, Ramanan said he had an audience with the Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, on Thursday to present updates on the development of the Socso Rehabilitation Centre in the state. He also expressed commitment to ensuring the project is implemented as planned and benefits workers requiring rehabilitation support and reintegration into employment.
