Govt urges checks for PTSD signsThe Department of Mental Health (DMH) is advising parents whose children were trapped in Terminal 21 mall during Saturday's stand-off to closely monitor their psychological well-being. According to the DMH, the incident may cause post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in children and adolescents who were directly affected by the rampage. The advice was issued after four children trapped at the shopping centre were brought in for psychological counselling by their parents. The number of children trapped in the building when the siege took place remains unclear. The department has set-up 10 teams to provide counselling to 107 siege survivors.
