Councils have launched a call to find sites where new homes could potentially be built in South Norfolk, Norwich and Broadland, to meet revised government housing targets. The Greater Norwich authorities had previously identified where 45,000 new homes could be built between 2018 and 2038, but the Greater Norwich Local Plan (GNLP) – which was adopted in March 2024 – will now be reviewed. The review is prompted by national planning reform and the government’s new method for calculating housing need, resulting in higher housing targets. A call has gone out for potential development sites in Norfolk. The Greater Norwich authorities will then assess submissions to identify which sites may be suitable to be included in the reviewed plan.
