The road-trip comedy-drama starring Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen snapped up TIFF's top audience-selected People's Choice Award on Sunday. TIFF's People's Choice Award is considered an early barometer for further kudos and consideration during the upcoming film awards season this winter. This year, about 35 per cent of the 342 films screened at TIFF were directed or co-directed by women, organizers said.
