As part of its phased reopening plan, Greggs said in a previous update that it hoped a larger scale opening of selected shops could happen by mid-June. In a report on the opening, Greggs said: "In line with this plan we intend to re-open around 800 shops to takeaway customers later this week, on Thursday 18 June. The announcement confirms an earlier Mirror exclusive in which it was revealed June 18th had been marked as a proposed reopening date. Greggs had been allowed to stay open throughout the lockdown, offering takeaway and delivery services.
