After six events, reigning overall titlist University of Santo Tomas is leading the general championship race in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 80. The Growling Tigers has so far garnered 142 points highlighted by four championship crowns, three runners-up and two third-place finishes. UST dominated the men and women’s judo, women’s beach volleyball and poomsae events then placed second in men’s beach volleyball, and men and women’s table tennis, and third in men’s tae kwon do and women’s swimming. La Salle topped the women’s table tennis and women’s badminton, wound up second in women’s swimming and poomsae, and got a bronze in the men’s judo. National University has already bagged five crowns from men’s beach volleyball, men’s table tennis, men’s badminton, and men and women’s tae kwon do but stayed at fifth with 102 points.
