Guan Eng strongly opposed to turning Penang into federal territory

GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng yesterday said he would not agree to the idea of turning Penang into a federal territory. He was responding to a statement by Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, which he has branded “seditious”, as it goes against the Federal Constitution. Penang is a state in the federation and (Tengku Adnan) wants to legislate us out of existence. In an interview with Business Radio Station BFM on Feb 1, Tengku Adnan said he would like to expand the federal territories to include Penang, Kedah's island of Langkawi and parts of Melaka. Currently, the federal territories are Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
