3 Guelph Gryphons scored five goals in the first period en route to a 5-0 win over the No. 2 Montreal Carabins in a U Sports women’s hockey semifinal on Saturday. Mallory Young, Claire Merrick, Ashlee Lawrence, Molly Crossman and Madison Melo scored for the Gryphons, while goaltender Valerie Lamenta registered the shutout. The Gryphons, searching for their first national title, will play the winner of a game between the No. 5 McGill Martlets in the final on Sunday.
