However, 20 years after the land was acquired by the GPCL, farmers claim that the possession of the land continues to be with them. Farmers had moved Gujarat High Court in December last year pleading that the land acquisition by the GPCL had been rendered ineffective as the company had not taken possession of the land. So far the issue of land is concerned, the GPCL had done demarcation, prepared map and thus had already taken possession of land.
