"A Fake resignation letter is going around on Social Media with my signature, claiming that I have resigned from the Presidentship of @INCGujarat. It is completely fake & I have issued no such letter. I am a loyal soldier of the party & will always remain so," Solanki tweeted. He accused the BJP of "spreading lies" as it was "nervous & rattled" by the "surging popularity" of the Congress in Gujarat. The party said it will file a complaint with the Election Commission in the matter, news agency PTI has reported. The letter, addressed to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, claims that Solanki is aggrieved by certain decisions taken by the party, including distribution of tickets, reports PTI.He is aggrieved because tickets were sold to undeserving candidates, the letter quotes Solanki as saying.Solanki told PTI that his family has been wedded to the Congress ideology for four generations, so the question of resigning does not arise. The Congress and the ruling BJP are locked in a contentious battle for Gujarat, which goes to vote in two phases, on December 9 and 14, respectively.Counting of votes will take place on December 18.
