Gujarat elections: Here's what PM Modi thinks the Congress learnt from the British

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the Congress had expertly picked up a certain lesson from "our colonial rulers" - namely, the British policy of 'divide and rule. '"I fail to understand why the Congress is once again doing what it always did in the past - divide people, be it on caste lines, communal lines, between villages and cities. Congress has learnt 'divide and rule' from our colonial rulers rather well," PM Modi said while addressing a rally at Bhavnagar in Gujarat.Instead, he said, that Gujarat had grown because of "shanti, ekta and sadbhavana," that is, "peace, unity, and harmony. "The PM also asked the Congress "to stick to the truth," and refrain from giving the people of the state "poll time lollipops" and making "false promises. And see how they have rejected Congress repeatedly," he said.
