HC notice to police on freezing of Prakash Padukone’s bank account


more-inThe High Court of Karnataka on Wednesday ordered issue of notice to the city police and IDBI Bank on a petition filed by the former badminton player Prakash Padukone, his wife and a daughter questioning freezing of their joint bank account in connection with the ongoing probe against Bengaluru-based wealth management firm Vikram Investments. Justice A.S. Bopanna, before whom the petition came up for hearing, adjourned further hearing till April 4 while asking the government counsel to seek instruction on the issues raised in the petition. Mr. Suresh is an accused in the criminal case registered by the police for allegedly duping hundreds of investors. Questioning the legality of freezing of the account, to which Mr. Padukone received payments from the firm, it has been alleged in the petition that account was frozen illegally without even issuing a notice.
