Mr. Verma had approached the High Court following the Supreme Court’s order allowing him to file a plea here. Subsequently, on September 26 of the same year, the high court had refused to stay the Centre’s order dismissing Mr. Verma. Mr. Verma had probed the high-profile Ishrat Jahan case of 2004 between April 2010 and October 2011. The Gujarat High Court had later directed the CBI to probe the case and avail Mr. Verma’s services. It was further alleged that Mr. Verma did not make it clear that the views expressed by him were his own and not that of the government.
