Now, BEST employees’ unions are using HT’s four-part series to appeal to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and prominent citizens for intervention. The Sanyukta Kamgar Kriti Samiti, an action committee of various BEST unions, put out posters, at all 27 bus depots, featuring HT’s suggestions and illustration on them. Facing its worst financial crisis, BEST has been unable to pay the employees’ salaries on time. “Our demands are very simple: treat BEST workers at par with those of BMC. We are planning to go ahead with the strike.” said, Shashank Rao, leader, BEST Workers’ Union.
