Bellingham, an unused substitute in Sunday’s final, has now defended his teammates, praising them for stepping up to take the spot-kicks, and has called on social media companies to do more to prevent racist abuse online. I am speechless.’The Metropolitan Police has launched an investigation into the racist abuse, calling it ‘unacceptable’, while The Football Association said any fan who partook in the ‘disgusting behaviour’ was ‘not welcome in following the team’.
