In 2018, we saw more awareness of bias in data, while 2019 has seen firms begin to address and eliminate that bias. AI is being used to enhance core IT competencies, from managing metadata, to incorporating analysis from AI systems into BI dashboards, and more. The were also a number of major acquisitions of and investment in AI and BI firms. The complex flow of online and retail facilities is an area I expect to see AI better address in order to improve logistics and customer experience. What I expect in 2019 is to see more companies better integrate NLP, but also to learn the lesson that chatbots are only a single tool in the user experience.
