Hanging death of man in Exposition Park is ruled a suicide

The death of a man found hanging in an Exposition Park neighborhood on Thursday morning has been ruled a suicide, based on a preliminary investigation, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers responding around 4:20 a.m. found a 55-year-old-Latino man hanging from a tree near 36th Street and Arlington Avenue, according to LAPD Officer William Cooper, a spokesperson for the department. Initially reported as a suicide, officers from LAPD’s Southwest community station conducted an investigation to determine the nature of the death. A preliminary investigation conducted by the county’s Medical Examiner-Coroner Department determined it was a suicide, Cooper said. The name of the man has not yet been released, according to the coroner.
