Having initially been assistant boss, Flick, 56, took over in November 2019 and won the Bundesliga and Champions League in his first season in charge. The statement read: "FC Bayern disapproves of the unilateral communications issued by Hansi Flick and will continue talks after the match at Mainz, as agreed." Flick joined Bayern as Niko Kovac's assistant in 2019 and took over as interim boss when the former Croatia international was sacked. Bayern also won the Club World Cup in February, Flick's sixth trophy in his first 16 months in charge.
