Hard-Hit by Coronavirus, New York City Faces Next Big Test: Reopening


New York City begins reopening its economy Monday after more than two months in lockdown, with businesses struggling to regain their footing from the pandemic’s financial toll while also girding for a possible second wave of the contagion. The city, the hardest hit in the nation by the virus, will roll out its reopening in phases, first allowing construction, agriculture, manufacturing and wholesale trade to resume operations. Retail stores can also offer curbside and in-store pickup.
