Harleston's Red Cross hospital veterans' signed tablecloth finds new home

A tablecloth signed by more than 100 soldiers treated at two Red Cross hospitals in Harleston during the First World War has finally found a home to be displayed. The unique piece of history, which has survived for more than a century, is hanging in the social room of the town’s Memorial Leisure Centre in Wilderness Lane. At the centre of the tablecloth are the signatures of medical staff and those that kept the hospitals running. It has taken Mr Pegg a long time to get the tablecloth to where it is now. This was made possible by generous grants from The Grapevine magazine, Redenhall with Harleston Town Council, the Harleston branch of the Royal British Legion, Harleston Town Football Club and other individual donors.
