Robert Lafreniere has been the organization’s commissioner since 2011. MONTREAL—The head of Quebec’s anti-corruption unit is stepping down next month. His second mandate was set to end in 2021. The unit, which is known by its French-language acronym UPAC, said today Lafreniere’s resignation will take effect Nov. 2. Earlier this year, then-public security minister Martin Coiteux released two reports on the work climate within UPAC.
