A heavy rain warning has been issued for Marlborough for 24 hours from 8pm Monday. According to MetService northern Marlborough could expect between 100 to 130mm of northerly rain peaking at 10-20mm per hour on Tuesday with heaviest rain in the Richmond Range and Rai Valley area. Heavy rain might cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly which might cause surface flooding and slips that would make driving conditions hazardous, MetService reports.
