Police officers should be the only ones armed in the council chambers. Such a ban is allowed by state law, and the city council should consider it . The possibility of violence is always present, but disarming everyone isn’t the answer. It’s unwise to change the city ordinance based on one unfortunate incident. Some steps must be taken, but it’s hard to say if a gun ban is necessary.
