A supply deal with global meal kit company Hello Fresh has provided a lifeline for a Christchurch salmon farm when the coronavirus crisis hit. Akaroa Salmon, which farms salmon in pens in Akaroa Harbour, had begun discussions with Hello Fresh to supply salmon for its meal kits late last year. Initially the deal with Hello Fresh was to supply salmon for its kits every six-to-eight weeks. supplied Duncan Bates, managing director of Akaroa Salmon says the company got lucky when it was asked to supply meal kit company Hello Fresh. Massey said the volume of salmon it was supplying to Hello Fresh had doubled since their partnership began.
