“Also, only the effluents were overflowing into the rivulet and not the raw sewage. Even though the SIDCGL officials claimed to have learnt a lesson now, however, the root cause behind natural rivulet turning black was still a mystery. Hence Herald carried out further investigations and learned, that besides effluents from STP, a large quantity of sewage from the Gandhinagar locality (located on hilly terrain above Baina STP) gets mixed with effluents (STP operators says treated) released from the Baina STP. “The main root cause behind this black rivulet polluting sea is effluents being released from Gandhinagar locality. This is the major contributor to this rivulet turning black,” a staff present at Baina STP informed Herald.
