07 Dec 2023| 06:09am ISTTiger Reserve matter listed before SC Registrar todayTeam HeraldPANJIM: The matter related to notifying Mhadei Wildlife sanctuary and surrounding areas as Tiger Reserve will come before the Supreme Court Registrar on Thursday, December 7, for case management. After the State government failed to notify the Tiger Reserve within the three-month deadline set by the High Court of Bombay at Goa, the Goa Foundation had approached the High Court seeking a direction to issue notice under the Contempt of Courts Act. The High Court, on July 24 had directed the State government to notify the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary and other specified areas as a Tiger Reserve within three months i.e. However, the government filed a miscellaneous civil application before the High Court seeking extension of time to notify the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary and surrounding areas as a Tiger Reserve. Earlier, the Goa government had approached the Supreme Court to nullify the order of the High Court.
