Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) has seen a significant increase in threats to her life since President Donald Trump tweeted a video attacking her on Friday. The video Trump tweeted showed Omar, one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress, speaking at an event last month for the Council on American–Islamic Relations, a Muslim civil rights organization. Referring to the 9/11 attacks, she said CAIR was formed “because they recognized that some people did something.” The video then cuts to footage of the burning twin towers. Omar also said many of the new threats have directly referenced or come in response to Trump’s tweet on Friday. Twitter user Chad Loder created a compilation of some of the tweets threatening Omar.
