Terms between the two parties were being discussed on Thursday evening after the former St Mirren and Sunderland manager was identified as the man to take over at Easter Road. Hibs sacked manager Paul Heckingbottom last weekCeltic assistant manager John Kennedy had been linked with the vacancy but he will be staying with the Scottish champions. Heckingbottom was sacked by Hibs after a 5-2 defeat to Celtic in the Scottish League Cup on November 2. Ross was sacked by Sunderland after less than 18 months in charge of the League One club after he guided them to the play-off final last season.
