20th Century FoxAdapting a hit movie for the stage is not a new concept but it has proved to be an often lucrative one. Now it seems that multi-award nominated, 67 in total, Hidden Figures could be the latest to make the transition. Nominated for just three Oscars including Best Picture and a Best Supporting Actress nod for Octavia Spencer, Hidden Figures has taken $185.74 million at the worldwide box office to date on a budget in the region of just $25 million. Because of the film's early buzz, strong musical character and its inspirational and feel-good disposition, when talking to the cast in New York ahead of the film’s release I asked the film’s female cast and Pharrell Williams, one of Hidden Figure’s composers, about the potential for it to perhaps take on a new life on Broadway. Schroeder and Melfi shared an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for their work.
