High inflation only gets dangerous when people think it is permanent


Inflation’s rising — and the hard part will be convincing people it isn’t here to stay. There are a lot of them around, by which I mean rising prices. Nationwide Building Society says that house prices rose by 10.9 per cent in the year ending last month compared with a year earlier. Consumer price inflation in the eurozone is up to 2 per cent. These were not the first price rises by the company, which each month announces increases by suppliers.
