High number of COVID-19 cases in Sask. with 'unknown' source not surprising, experts say

The province says household exposure is the top source of COVID-19 transmission in Saskatchewan, in cases where the exposure source is known. The numbers in the first column are case numbers by type of exposure, according to the Saskatchewan Health Authority. A health-care worker who, for example, had a household exposure would show up in both the health-care worker category and the household exposure category in the table. Dr. Cory Neudorf, an epidemiologist from the University of Saskatchewan, says the high number of COVID-19 cases with an 'unknown' transmission source is partly due to increased activity by those who are asymptomatic. Carr says that does not mean the cases listed as having an "unknown" exposure source will stay that way.
