Hishammuddin: UN General Assembly has agreed to hold special session on Palestine

PETALING JAYA: The United Nations General Assembly has agreed to call for a special session to discuss the ongoing conflict between Palestinians and Israel, says Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein. The special session will be held on Thursday night (May 20), Malaysian time, and will discuss the "latest situation in the Middle East", the Foreign Minister said. This showed Malaysia’s efforts to highlight the plight of the Palestinians on the global stage are working, he added. Hishammuddin also said that Malaysia, along with other Muslim countries, will urgently call for the Human Rights Council to hold a special session on Israel’s inhumane acts against the Palestinians. Hishammuddin added that the Palestinian Culture Organisation Malaysia had acknowledged Malaysia's role in changing global sentiments towards Israel.
