Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) President Meher Tatna announced at the Golden Globes Awards that the group would donate $2 million in grants to two non-profit, non-partisan organizations – one million to the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and one million to InsideClimate News (ICN). Tatna also shared that the members of HFPA unanimously voted to expand their mandate to support journalists around the globe. The first grant was given to the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, which provides free legal assistance to journalists around the country. "We at the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press are deeply honored to be recognized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and beyond grateful for this truly transformative gift,” said Bruce Brown, the committee's executive director. At last year's Golden Globe Awards, HFPA announced two $1 million grants to the Committee to Protect Journalists and the International Consortium for Investigative Journalism.
