Holyport have progressed from the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup after beating Hartpury University, 2-1, in a replay at the Summerleaze. Sam Lock’s men thought they had made it through to the preliminary round after Luke Appleton and Alfie Pendlebury scored to deliver them a 2-1 victory. However, in the aftermath of Port’s winner, the referee sin-binned a Hartpury player – an action not allowed in the FA Cup – and the side successfully appealed a replay. Their reward though is progress in the FA Cup and we look forward to another challenge against Yate (Town) on Saturday. “After a strange start to the season the boys stayed focused and executed the game plan perfectly.”
