Homeless residents forced hotel school to shut down

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the LA Grand Hotel in downtown Los Angeles was converted to a Project Roomkey site for homeless Angelenos. The decision put the city’s housing priorities on a collision course with another one of the building’s future tenants: a high school. Now, a lawsuit alleges that the hotel’s homeless residents forced the Academy of Media Arts to close. LA Times reporters Noah Goldberg and Angie Orellana Hernandez joined Lisa McRee on “LA Times Today” with the story. Watch “LA Times Today” at 7 and 10 p.m. Monday through Friday on Spectrum News 1 and the Spectrum News app.
