Even though coronavirus is mostly asymptomatic in children, a few who get infected may need hospitalization, the Centre said on Wednesday. It further added, all adequate arrangements in terms of healthcare infrastructure are being made to provide them effective care and treatment amid the third COVID wave concern. Responding to questions relating to COVID infections among children, Dr VK Paul, Member Health at NITI Aayog said, children are usually asymptomatic and rarely needs hospitalisation. However, it is possible that 2 per cent - 3 per cent of children who get infected may need hospitalization." The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had issued guidelines for 'Management of COVID-19 in children (below 18 years) on June 18.
