When companies with women founders or cofounders seek out venture capital funding, they receive around just 10 per cent of all investment capital globally. Those assumptions are outdated, says McAdam, whose research has found that women entrepreneurs are also disrupters and risk takers. “Women need to think about how they personally define success and not let others define it for them,” she says. “Female entrepreneurs need to own it.
