Back then the thought of standing on a stage while the who’s who of showbiz applauded her was so far-fetched it wasn’t even a distant dream. But Lily Gladstone isn’t only the toast of Tinseltown now: she’s leading the charge to put a spotlight on Native American stories in Hollywood. The 37-year-old made history at the recent Golden Globes by becoming the first indigenous person in the show’s 81-year history to win best actress in a motion picture for her role in Killers of the Flower Moon.
