This year's second and final weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival powered down in the California desert on Sunday night after consecutive weeks of 100 degree heat and record-setting crowds. Taking place annually in the Inland Empire town of Indio since 2001, the 2017 edition drew an additional 52,000 revelers from 2016 totals after the Indio City Council approved an attendance hike last spring. The additional 26,000 patrons per weekend translated into three-day crowds of 125,000 that far surpassed the 2016 cap of 99,000--from which Coachella grossed $94 million in revenue. Spectacles of these proportions are certainly not for the faint of heart (especially not when experienced under the punishing desert sun).
