Before Arnold Palmer moved on, in the late '60s and for almost a decade, the world's best-known golfer was a high-profile Learjet customer. It was known to be a favorite ride for both Frank Sinatra and James Brown. The price tag of a Global 7500 is around $75 million compared to $10 million for the Learjet 75 Liberty. A 2018 survey by Corporate Jet Investor found 14.9% of Americans recognized the Learjet brand compared with 12.5% for Boeing. Still, the end of new Learjet production isn't producing a rush to fly the private jet favored by the Rat Pack and other boldface names.
