The Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens — this country’s two oldest and most storied hockey franchises — are about to play each other in the playoffs for the first time since 1979. The Leafs are the favourites, having won the North Division’s regular-season crown and beaten Montreal handily over 10 games (7-2-1). The Canadiens had a harder time generating offence, with the Leafs blocking shots and intercepting passes at greater rates. Is it the way teams play them? Canadiens: Montreal’s power play was 17th overall (19.2-per-cent success rate) to the Leafs’ 16th (20.0).
